Stock Exchanges

Bangladesh has two stock exchanges, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), established in 1954 where trading is conducted by computerized automated trading system and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), established in 1995 which is also conducted by computerized automated trading system . All exchanges are self-regulated, private sector entities which must have their operating rules approved by the BSEC.

Each Stock Exchange:

  • establishes listing requirements

  • approves, suspends or removes listing privileges of companies

  • monitors listed companies in compliance with legal regulatory provisions

  • permits dual listing
